I guess I’m a day behind on this post but better late than never, right!?

In 2012 I made the resolution to stay single and focus on finding out who I really was without the influence of a man in my life. It was a fantastic year and I can say I really embraced that resolution though I still might not be sure who I am fully I do know who I am not! I learned that I can be so much more independent and confident in myself than I ever thought possible! That alone is priceless in my book! In 2012 I also: watched my son go from a toddler to a little man (so crazy), started this blog, got more involved with my church, made some wonderful new friends, dropped from a size 8 to a size 4 and lost almost 20 pounds (in a healthy way), and so many other things! I can truly say it was an amazing year and I am so thankful for the many of you who follow my blog/life through The Almost Vegan.

Looking ahead to 2013 I am not “giving up” anything like people traditionally do. I am not making false promises to myself. When I started thinking about resolutions I considered giving up alcohol for the year … Don’t worry I quickly came to my senses!! Pass the wine please ;)

So to avoid doing anything crazy or dramatic this year I quickly made some more sound goals. Most importantly - I am going to make sure to read to T every single night and be more present until bedtime. I head something so true on the radio this morning, “Nothing replaces mom.” I have started to slack in this department with rushed evenings and bedtimes… No more! I would be lying if I said experimenting in the kitchen, working out and blogging have not taken up a bit of my time with T. I obviously want to continue to cook, workout and write – I love it! But I need to carve out time in my day for it better so I use time with my little guy more appropriately… playing super heroes and all that other important stuff!

I will continue further down my path of veganism taking it into other parts of my life. I’ve been really looking at things like: clothing, shoes, hygiene, cleaning products, etc. I have started doing some of my home experimenting already (more on that to come!) and can’t wait to share!!

I am going to continue working on my fitness goals. I want to run in a marathon. I still hate running but will continue to run anyway. I want a six-pack of abs. I have a new-found love for yoga and planking (who woulda thought!). I will be more diligent about writing down what I am going to work on at the gym each day. I literally throw around weights most of the time after my cardio… I’m sure I look like a loon!

Last year I let the influence of others and the commentary on that changes in my body really affect the time I was putting towards my health and wellness. This year I am going to do a better job of bettering myself because I want to and not getting down by the opinions of other people. I am doing it for me! Bring on the muscles.

I am going to be one crazy awesome mama, fit, vegan, blogger (did I mention crazy) woman in 2013!

What are your goals for the new year?

I like your post! Sounds like you’ve come along way in a short period of time. I too have been looking at other areas of veganism…returned a pair of boots because they had some leather on them, threw out my old suede jacket…have to find replacements now :). And don’t worry about others…they’re going to make comments regardless of what we do :). Good luck for this year.

Thank you so much! I have been working on opening up more instead of posting short little bits and mostly recipes – hopefully it is received well! I am STILL holding onto my leather boots :( I need to do a lot of reading on clothing still – I have a few pea coats that are wool, I don’t know if that is okay or not.. do you? And yes others will never stop commenting – I guess its better to be talked about than not at all, right?! Same to you – hope you have a wonderful 2013!
