Green Lemonade

February 1, 2013 in Drink, Recipes

I have been pretty obsessed with juice lately. I usually drink a green smoothie everyday but because of the very COLD weather (less than 20º for the high in Ohio today) I have made a nice hot breakfast everyday… can you say Slow Cooked Oats?! I still come home from work with a craving for something refreshing. Juices always do that for me .. they are so crisp and make me feel so energized! I think my body has been craving juice as well because it is such a great defense against colds! Have you heard about the crazy bugs that are going around?! Keep that away from me, this mama is way too busy to get sick. Nature’s juice defenses to the rescue!

I usually make juices from throwing whatever is in my fridge into the blender and whatever comes out is what I drink. Sometimes they are TERRIBLE and others they are purely amazing! This beauty ended up falling on the side of amazing! And if it weren’t green you seriously would not have a clue that it was not lemonade.

Green Lemonade

Serves 1-2 (as always my servings never make it to 2… unless I am sharing with Tyler, of course)

Ingredients:

  • 1 head romaine, remove bad parts and tear into pieces
  • 1 orange, remove peel
  • 1 lemon, remove peel and any seeds you can (anything you miss will be caught when strained)
  • 2 apples, remove core
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 Tbsp agave

Directions:

Blend, strain, enjoy! It really is that easy!

What is your best defense against the cold/flu season?
